I thought it just happened, and I was riding the horse in the direction it was already going, but when I look back from today's vantage point, I can see the way I leaned and how maybe I was steering all along: Writing for my mom's PR agency, short news articles, promo blurbs, and my kid's elementary school newsletter, bylines for the local newspaper, and as a lobbyist and legislative aide writing testimony and position papers on healthcare issues... Finding a passion as a paralibrarian and embracing the "right to read" and the message of noncensorship and free public libraries... speaking to motivate and empower careers in librarianship, I contributed a chapter to ALA's publication: Managing in the Middle. I joined the editorial staff of Associates, the ALA electronic journal. In 2010 I was honored by Library Journal as the Paralibrarian of the Year. And my graceful children and my silly wonderful grandchildren... led here.
